| Whisper of Flowers by Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan |

Description : To commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Anton
Chekhov in 2010, the Chekhov International Theatre Festival invited
LIN Hwai-min, Joseph Nadj and Nacho Duato to create choreographies
inspired by Chekov's works. Whisper of Flowers is LIN Hwai-min's
answer. Inspired by Anton Chekhov's Cherry Orchard, Whisper of Flowers
forsakes characters and plot of the original play, instead explores
the enduring theme of exuberance giving way to precarious darkness
with metaphor.

Description : Organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services
Department since 2000, the International Arts Carnival - The annual
summer arts festival most anticipated by children, teenagers and
their families is approaching its 11th year! From 9 July to 15 August
2010, we will present a wide variety of creative and fun-filled
programmes, bringing everyone a meaningful and happy summer.The
opening programme is Peter Pan by the internationally renowned Northern
Ballet Theatre from UK on 9 to 11 July at Hong Kong Cultural Centre
Grand Theatre. A two-act full-length ballet, the show splendidly
interweaves classical dance with amazing technical wizardry and
gravity-defying feats of flying to depict the enchanting story of
Peter Pan and Wendy and their exciting adventurous journey to the
Neverland.Besides, an exhilarating array of fascinating programmes
by outstanding performers from Canada, Australia, Spain, France,
Russia and Japan, as well as talented local artists will be showcased.
Ranging from multimedia theatre, puppetry, music, drama, to comedic
physical theatre, musical and children's films, the programmes are
packaged into four series, including "ABC, Come and See",
specialized for kids aged 3 to 6; "HeARTS Linked", best
for the whole family; "New Generation Series", targeted
at teenagers; and "Hong Kong – An Infinite City" which
is tied-up with the World Expo 2010.

Description : Nothing is impossible in the world of fairy tales. The key to this glorious realm lies in the search for dreams and love and the quest for truth, beauty and virtue.
The Children and Youth Troupes of the Hong Kong Dance Company handpick five of the best loved stories by Hans Christian Andersen as a portal to this shimmering world of wonder and enchantment. Works include The Ugly Duckling, The Old Bachelor's Nightcap, Thumbelina, The Red Shoes and The Little Mermaid.
The young dancers' springing footsteps will retrace these moving tales to restore childlike innocence in your heart.

Description : Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the 108-member Asian Youth Orchestra has embarked on an ambitious 9-city, 16-concert tour. They will be joined by the orchestra's founder, Richard Pontzious, principal conductor James Judd and cello soloist Alban Gerhardt. The repertoire will include works by Richard Strauss's Don Juan, Don Quixote, the Suite from Der Rosenkavalier, Mahler's Symphony No.5 and Schumann's Cello Concerto.

Description : Adapted from the American writer Daniel Case of science fiction Flowers for Algernon. Was awarded the 1960 Hugo Award for best short story, then rewrite the novel in 1966, then was the year Nebula Award for Best Novel. The 1968 movie adaptation Charly the actor has also made this film was the Oscar for Best Actor that year. 2002, adapted for television broadcast in Japan, Japanese TV dramas, the play was the 35th Academy Awards Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best music and other awards.

Complemented by contemporary visuals, the valorous spirit and awe-inspiring personalities of the Three Kingdoms come to dramatic life in this original Chinese classical dance drama..

Description : The nine-rank system is an ancient method of classifying imperial Chinese civil servants. The highest rank being the First Pin or grade while the Ninth Pin, the lowest grade, was reserved for county officials. Did this mean that local officials were third-rate, or even triple third-rate? This episode of East Wing West Wing, a local political satire, applies this grading system to the local government. The audience will be taken on a humerous tour of the 'Grand Garden' and shown the current state of officialdom in Hong Kong! East Wing West Wing is Hong Kong's first political comedy theatre series allowing people to delve into political issues in a humorous way, enabling them to examine the existing local political culture and explore future direction of development.
